To earn the state auditor's award, NREVSD chief financial officer Teresa Napier and her office had to meet the following criteria of a “clean” audit report:
NREVSD filed timely financial reports with the Auditor of
State’s office in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles);
NREVSD's audit report did not contain any findings for
recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies,
Single Audit findings or questioned costs;
NREVSD’s management letter from the state audit contained NO
comments related to:
* Ethics referrals.
* Questioned costs less than $10,000.
* Lack of timely report submission.
* Reconciliation.
* Failure to obtain a timely Single Audit.
* Findings for recovery less than $100.
* Public meetings or public records.
The Auditor of State award resulted in the Ohio Senate
honoring New Richmond for "Exemplary Attainment."
"It is not surprising that the New Richmond Exempted
Village School District has been presented with this prestigious honor in
recognition of its timely, accurate, and comprehensive financial
statements," Ohio Senate president Keith Faber and State Senator Jor
Uecker said in a letter to the district. "This accomplishment is a
justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the
institution itself but also on its treasurer and on the entire community."
