The strength of any school is its PTO and Monroe Elementary's PTO showed that strength at the end of the 2011-12 school year by raising $9113 in its annual Walk-a-Thon.
Monroe principal Mark Bailey, who will taking over as principal at New Richmond High School at the end of June, played a big role in that fund raiser by agreeing to wear a chicken suit for the day if the PTO exceeded its goal of $8000.
