Monroe Elementary 's Art Spirit Week

No school celebrates Youth Art Month quite like New Richmond's Monroe Elementary.

The school becomes the most colorful in Ohio when staff and students dress in daily themes to celebrate the arts under the guidance of visual arts teacher Adrian Vance Hawk. Daily themes included Crazy Color Combos Day, Patterns Day, Favorite Color Day, Color/Texture/Sculpture Explosion Day,  and FAVORITE Artist & Art Media Day.

NREVSD Superintendent Adam Bird donned a Vincent Van Gogh mask to celebrate Favorite Artist Day with Adrian Hawk who is wearing a mask of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and a "dress" that had a self-portrait by Frida Kahlo, a famous Mexican artist of the 20th Century, along with a graduation hat made with paint brushes and color pencils she wore for her Masters degree program graduation.
